About the Laboratory

The Behavioural Medicine Laboratory is part of the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta and is located on the University's North Campus in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The laboratory's prime focus is on understanding the link between physical activity and cancer control including primary prevention, coping with treatments, recovery after treatments, long term survivorship, and secondary prevention and survival.

The laboratory is directed by Dr. Kerry Courneya, Professor and Canada Research Chair in Physical Activity and Cancer.

Our vision and mission

Vision
The vision of the Behavioural Medicine Lab (BML) is to have physical activity recognized and promoted as an essential component of cancer control.

Mission
The mission of the BML is to advance the scientific understanding of the interrelationships among the behavioural, biological, and psychosocial aspects of exercise and cancer.
